The Basslink interconnector enhances security of supply on both sides of Bass Strait; protecting Tasmania against the risk of drought-constrained energy shortages while providing Victoria and southern states with secure renewable energy during times of peak demand.

Basslink is now online and live.

The Basslink interconnector is the world's second longest undersea electricity cable.  Owned by CitySpring Infrastructure Trust, Basslink continues to deliver excellence in the areas of safety, reliability and performance.

Basslink also has a number of fibre optic cables which are capable of carrying high speed telecommunication and broadband voice/data.  In this regard, a new subsidiary, Basslink Telecoms Pty Limited ("Basslink Telecoms") has been established to offer a range of wholesale transmission services.  With operations scheduled for launch in early 2009, Basslink Telecoms is ready now to discuss its product offering with potential customers.
